Going Places.

I am not stay-at-home-mom material. I am almost 4 weeks into my maternity leave, and I am ready to go back to work. It's not that I don't love my kids, because I adore them, but I am a more effective mom because I do not stay home. I respect those that have the patience to stay at home, because I did not receive that patience.

So, in order to more effectively enjoy my remainder time at home, I have decided that I cannot stay home all day. I HAVE to go somewhere everyday. Some would tell me to chill out. Some would tell me that I am crazy. However, I have proven to myself that it is worth the work for me to awaken, bathe both girls everyday, shower myself, and leave the house.

If you are bored, and need a visitor or three, let me know. We are all dressed up and have no place to go.....

Shirley Jean Desvouges was born to Erin & Richard just a week ago! She was exactly Eva's same size, and just cute as a button! Eva is so excited to have a friend just 15 days younger than her! We all feel so blessed to have such perfect and beautiful baby girls! Shirley, we cannot wait to watch you grow up and be a part of your life. Erin and Richard, congratulations on a beautiful baby, we are so happy for you and so thrilled that we all got to experience this together!

Our precious Eva's name was written in The Book of Heaven on Easter Sunday! What a joyous day spent with family and friends. Granpda Ruckman had the honor of baptizing Eva! Her Godparents are my cousins, Mark and Jen Cameron, and my friend, Dr. Angela Blomberg. I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed Eva's special day!

Big Sis

Many people keep asking me how Emma is doing with this whole "being a big sister" thing. Honestly, she has been a champ. We have seen no jealously to date, and have had only minor altercations. All in all, I would say that Emma is a prize-winning big sister. See for yourself.....

Eva Rose Borggren

Eva Rose Borggren entered our lives on Monday, March 3, 2008 at 4:29am. She weighed 7 lbs, 15 oz, and was 21 inches long. Her head measured 13 3/4 inches. What a beautiful blessing she has been thus far.....

We went in Sunday evening to be "gelled up." This process is meant to prepare the cervix for induction of pitocin which was supposed to take place the following morning. However, after contractions off and on for a week, all Mommy needed was a little boost, and labor began. We left Woodwinds Sunday evening around 7 pm after the "gellin'" process was complete. There were no immediate signs that I was in labor, so we were discharged. By the time we arrived back home, I was cramping so badly that I could not even stand up straight. The cramping turned to contractions, which eventually turned quite painful. I was DETERMINED to stay home as long as possible, so we did just that. I called in to Woodwinds, and they said they would get a bed ready for me, but that I could stay home until my contractions were 5 minutes apart, lasting 1 minute, and I could no longer walk or talk during them. I paced the house, played Solitaire, visited with my Mom and aunt, and watched Josh sleep on the floor as I awaited for these uncomfortable signs. Then, around midnight, I just knew it was time..... I ran upstairs to a sleeping Emma, gave her a big kiss, and told her she would always be the favorite!

As we were leaving the driveway, I had the most painful contraction I had had all evening, and knew I had made the right choice to leave.

We checked in to Woodwinds around 1am, and determined that I was 5 cm dilated--perfect! The next 2 hours were spent with my nurse Lisa, Josh, my Mom, and my aunt (MN Mom) in the rocking chair and the tub. My nurse asked if I had a birth plan, to which my reply was, "I want NO drugs and NO epidural." Enough said. Around 2:30, I was dilated to 6 cm, and I decided that I was ready to have my water broken, knowing full well that things would hurt tremendously after this point, but would progress rapidly. I was able to manage the pain quite well, until I knew that I was in transition, and felt a TREMENDOUS urge to push. The nurse should have been forewarned that I slide through transition rapidly, but she encouraged me to blow through contractions while she called my doctor, who lives 15 minutes away, to make his way.

Well, I progressed from 7-10 cm in minutes, and luckily there was another doctor there who had arrived to deliver her patient's baby, but she was not quite ready. I borrowed her doctor for awhile..... As Naomi pointed out, my chart said that I began pushing at 4:26, and baby arrived at 4:29. Dr. Rolando arrived in time to deliver the placenta!

This experience was once again an ultimate blessing for us. The labor and delivery went just as I had planned. Everything about my experience was perfect, and I saw the work of God's hand throughout the way.

We enjoyed many visitors that day (Jared, Naomi, and Sophia came an hour later!), and enjoyed our time, but pleaded with Dr. Rolando to let us go home Tuesday evening. Thankfully, my Mom will be here through next Wednesday to help us along.

Josh and I feel very blessed to have now 2 beautiful, healthy, and perfect girls.

Amen.
