New Normal

Tomorrow starts our new normal. After being home for 7 weeks under the FMLA, it is time to go back to work. And, our new Nanny, Joy, begins working for us! While I am looking forward to our new routine, I am not looking forward to the morning chaos!

Many things have developed career-wise for me over the last few weeks, much of which cannot be disclosed at this time. One huge development was that I was appointed the Clinic Supervisor of the Pillsbury House Integrated Health Clinic that was opened in conjunction with the University of MN. This clinic, located in the heart of Mpls, offers 6 disciplines: chiropractic, acupuncture, massage, psychiatry, and medical & nursing students an opportunity to collaborate and offer free care to those in need. This is an exciting endeavor for me (and will look great on my resume!), but will take a lot of extra time that will have to be spent away from my family. Those of you that know me well know that I struggle finding a balance between my family and my career, because I want them both to be first and foremost in my life.....

While I haven't used an alarm clock in 7 weeks, I am looking forward to my new bedtime tonight, and cannot wait to see what else God has in store for me & my family. Please pray for our crazy mornings.....

Moo, Cow, Moo....

I just thought that you would all like to know that I just fed Eva on both sides (or, as we call it, dinner and dessert), and then I proceeded to pump 18 ounces. You heard it, 18. Go ahead, call me a cow.

The Latest

Eva is now 6 weeks old, and since we are at Grandpa and Grandma' house, I haven't been good at the updates! We took the girls to have their pictures taken professionally last week, and they turned out adorable. We did the typical poses, and they are all darling--I will try to post them. Also, a fun new thing that Eva has been doing is cooing and smiling. I thought at first that it was a gas-reflex thing, but it all happens at the sound of my voice, so my Mom assures me it is for real! I forgot how rewarding it was to have a new babe smiling back at you. Eva has also been eating like a champ, and we have been preparing her for Mommy to go back to work. She does great with the bottles, so our new Nanny, Joy, shouldn't have any problems with feedings! We have had some colicky evenings, so I have been adjusting her on a regular basis, but the crying can be quite draining. I have completely cut out caffeine from my diet, so between that and the chiropractic care, hopefully we can nip this soon! On the bright side, Eva has been sleeping for 8 hours uninterrupted for the last 2 weeks!!!

Say a prayer for me on Friday as Emma, Eva and I venture back from Milwaukee on our own!

Looking forward to seeing you all soon.....

Thank Heaven For.....Daddies

There are many written accounts of "daddy's to the rescue." Check out Naomi's blog and Carla's blog for their recent posts about Daddy saving the day. Here is my story.....

Yesterday was just a tough day. Both girls were needy and crabby, which does not equate to a good day, but a long one, in fact. We went to Josh's Potbelly for lunch, then headed to Super Target. By the time Josh got home from work, I had had enough. However, Josh MADE my day by bringing home a simple $2.13 treat.

A large, Vanilla Iced Coffee from McDonald's.

I was happy enough to hear the garage door open, but overwhelmed with happiness as he walked in with my treat and a HUGE grin.

But it didn't stop there. After hearing about my rotten day, he told me to find something to do with a friend, and that he would keep the girls.....

So, I called up my friend Angela, and we headed to T.G.I.Friday's. The next few hours were spent laughing, talking, drinking, and enjoying some adult conversation.

2 margaritas later, and I was ready to hit the sack, but more importantly ready to tackle my girls this morning.

Thank you Josh, I am so lucky to call you my husband.

Next week YOU can enjoy a Hall Pass!
